GNFA MERIT AWARD AND GRADUATE RECOGNITION - 2014
On June 20, GNFA Chairperson, Harsharan Kaur presented $2,000 Merit Award to Japsimran Kaur
who will continue her education in the field of Human Biology, at the Stanford University, California, which is
one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions. Our congratulations go to Japsimran Kaur
who is the daughter of Harjeet Singh and Herjit Kaur.
Every year GNFA gives one, $2,000 Merit Award to a college bound High School graduate. Criteria for the
award include: GPA and SAT score; involvement in the GNFA activities; GNFA membership of individual
and parents; score in an extempore - Sikhi related essay; an interview; and individual achievements in and outside
of GNFA Community. This year Education Committee forwarded the names of four (4) qualified
candidates to a panel of three (3) Judges, who pickup the winner.
Also, on Sunday, July 20th, GNFA recognized sixteen (16) - College and High School graduates of GNFA
Community. Year 2014 - Graduates were:
College - Simrun Kaur Soni and Amit Singh Vohra.
High School - Arjan Singh Grover; Angad Singh Uppal; Amolak Singh Nagi; Dashmeet Singh Maharaj;
Harleen Kaur; Japjyot Singh Goomer; Japsimran Kaur; Jay Singh Birgi; Kunal Singh Khurana; Mangaljar Singh
Bahra; Narjeet Singh; Prableen Kaur Chowdhary; Sachi Kaur Soni; and Sahib Singh Mudhar; Every
graduate got GNFA Certificate for their academic excellence, outstanding leadership, and service to others.
